AV Installed Room Descriptions

Introduction

This table shows the types of AV installations on campus and how OIT - Educational Technology Services (ETS) supports and maintains them.

The costs mentioned here cover only audio, video, computer technology, and labor for installation or maintenance. Furniture, building structure, and utilities costs are not included.

Room Type Description Support Protocol
OIT Tech Enhanced Classroom

These are general classrooms and lecture halls with a podium, computer and laptop connections, a touchscreen monitor, and one or more projectors. Room scheduling is handled by the Registrar's Office.

Classrooms, lecture halls, and auditoriums can be reserved through the Registrar using the Astra scheduler.

ETS hotline phone is installed. These rooms are supported and maintained by ETS staff with quick service response. Equipment and budget are managed by OIT-ETS.
OIT Distance Origination Classrooms

These classrooms support conferencing and include a podium with computer and laptop connections, touchscreen monitor, LED displays or projectors, student and instructor cameras, and microphone arrays. Scheduling is through the Registrar's Office.

Examples include Arena C019, Myers Tech 111, and University Hall 107.

Departmental Classrooms & Laboratories*

These rooms have special equipment or layouts designed for specific disciplines or related fields. Scheduling is managed by the owning department.

Examples include Technology Annex 137, Arena 126, Holmstedt Hall 021, and Science 213.

Support is secondary and depends on staff and room availability. ETS maintains AV equipment and computers upon request. The owning departments cover all costs.
VIP Conference Rooms*

Conference rooms located in President, VP, and Dean areas.

Examples include Federal Hall 222, Myers Technology Center 101-G, and Parsons Hall 210.

These rooms receive immediate support from ETS staff. OIT manages equipment and computers. The owning departments pay all costs.
Departmental Conference & Seminar Rooms*

Conference rooms within departments. Scheduling is handled by the owning department.

Examples include Holmstedt Hall 280, Arena A201, and University Hall 215.

Support is secondary and depends on staff and room availability. ETS maintains equipment and computers upon request. The owning departments cover all costs.
Distance and Collaborative Learning Classrooms
These conferencing classrooms combine in-room collaboration with distance learning. They have five collaboration tables with monitors for group work and content sharing. Cameras cover the room for distance use via the podium computer and projector.

Examples include Arena A315 and C014.

Departmental Distance Origination Classrooms

These conferencing classrooms include a podium with computer and laptop connections, touchscreen monitor, LED displays or projectors, cameras, and microphones. Features vary by installation time and budget. Scheduling is managed by the owning department.

Examples include University Hall 008Q and Student Services 354.

OIT Computer Labs

General computer labs with a podium, computer and laptop connections, touch screen monitor, and projector. These labs have six or more Mac/Windows workstations for students. Scheduling is through the Registrar's Office.

Examples include Cunningham Memorial Library B03.

Support is secondary and depends on staff and room availability. These labs are maintained by ETS-Labs staff; ETS handles AV equipment and Labs handle computers. Equipment, computers, and budget are managed by OIT-ETS.
Departmental Computer Labs*

Rooms with special equipment or layouts for specific disciplines. They include six or more Mac/Windows workstations for students. Scheduling is handled by the owning department.

Examples include Myers Technology 217 and Arena A006.

Support is secondary and depends on staff and room availability. These labs are maintained by ETS-Labs staff. Departments pay for AV equipment. Computer costs are covered by ETS.

Departmental Computer Labs II*

Rooms with special equipment or layouts for specific disciplines. They include six or more Mac/Windows workstations for students. Scheduling is handled by the owning department.

Examples include Library 208, Science Building 105, and Root Hall A015.

Support is secondary and depends on staff and room availability. These labs are maintained by ETS-Labs staff. The owning departments cover all costs.

Events Space*

Rooms designed mainly for non-academic presentations with special equipment or layouts. Scheduling is managed by the owning department.

Federal Hall Magna Carta Room

Event spaces usually have limited technical support from OIT. Support is secondary and depends on staff and room availability. ETS maintains equipment and computers upon request. The owning departments cover all costs.

* All discipline and departmental rooms should have a Memo of Understanding (MOU) for needs not outlined in the article. Support protocols, equipment repair and refresh schedules, and software costs should be documented with OIT-ETS.

Standard support depends on the availability of ETS staff and room access.
