Introduction
Retirees from Indiana State University should expect some changes to their technology access. Submitting a Separation Request two weeks prior to your retirement date will ensure an OIT representative will meet with you to discuss how these changes will impact you personally.
Information
E-mail
What changes when an employee (faculty or staff) retires?
Retirees will be able to continue to use their ISU e-mail account; however, as of the retirement date they will stop being covered by the ISU Microsoft license, so they will only be able to access their e-mail using the web.
What does this mean?
Retirees will continue to receive e-mail at the indstate.edu account by visiting https://outlook.com and signing in with their ISU credentials.

Personal files stored on the ISU network
What changes?
On your retirement date, your access to the ISU network is disabled.
What should I do?
If you have personal files stored on the network, you should contact the help desk to schedule a separation checklist, and we can make recommendations on how to get your data copied off of ISU resources.
Access to systems such as Canvas and Banner
What changes?
On your retirement date, your access to systems such as Canvas and Banner is disabled. Your course information is retained in the system for 18 months.
What should I do?
Since in most cases there is no need for you to access these systems after retirement, no action is necessary.
Your computer
What changes?
On or shortly before your retirement date, your computer will be collected by OIT, the hard drive will be “cleaned,” and the computer will be placed in our hardware pool for redistribution.
What should I do?
If you have personal files stored on your computer, you should contact the help desk to schedule a separation checklist, and we can make recommendations on how to get your data copied off of ISU resources.
General technology related support
What Changes?
The Office of Information Technology offers technical support and solutions to the University and it's affiliates. As a retiree, you are no longer eligible for general technology related support beyond access to your email and resetting your university password.
What should I do?
If you need assistance with resetting your University Password, call 812-237-2910. If you need other technology related technical assistance, establish a relationship with local, reputable and affordable technical support firms.
Note: If you have questions or difficulties related to any of the actions above, please contact the OIT Technology Support Center for assistance at least two weeks before your retirement date so we have time to work with you on these items.
