Special Concepts
- You will need a Qualtrics account to complete these steps. If you do not have an account, please read this article and follow the instructions to login to Qualtrics or request a new account.
- SPSS is not a part of the Qualtrics platform. If you need to use SPSS to analyze your survey data:
- Students need faculty member to request SPSS access for them. Once approved, students may access SPSS from ISU portal.
- Faculty may install SPSS on thei rcomputers from the Software Center.

Steps to Access Qualtrics
- Individual users please refer to Qualtrics Account and Single Sign-On for instruction on how to login to Qualtrics.
- Departmental account users please go to https://login.qualtrics.com.
2.1. Enter your departmental username, and your departmental Qualtrics password.
2.2. Departmental user If this is the first time you login to Qualtrics, please change your password as soon as you login.
2.3. Click on the user logo at the top right corner and then click on the Account Settings. You'll see "Change Password" section.
2.4. If you forget your Qualtrics password, click on the "Forget your password?" link on the login page, and you'll get a password reset email.
Steps to Locate Your Survey
- View the list of all projects.
Once you login to your Qualtrics account, the first page you see is your Dashboard. The Dashboard may not display all your projects. Instead, you may see a list of projects in a specific folder. To display the list of all your projects, click on “All Projects” on the top left corner.
- Go back to Qualtrics Dashboard
If you browse to different pages in Qualtrics and want to go back to your Qualtrics Dashboard, click on the four dots on the top left corner.
Steps to Create a New Survey
- To create a new survey, click on the green “+Create Project” button. Sometimes it may just show a green "+" symbol.
- If you create a survey from scratch, click on “Blank Survey Project”. If you want to copy one of your own projects and use it as a template, then click “Create From Existing”. You may also create a new survey using a template provided by Qualtrics, by just clicking on one of the templates at the bottom.

Steps to Distribute a Survey
- To distribute a new survey, click “Distributions” on your survey page.
- The easiest way to distribute a survey is to get the anonymous survey link, and email it to participants using Outlook. Qualtrics also has a mailer that allows you to send out survey invitation from Qualtrics platform.
Steps to Find Responses and Reports
You may access survey responses from the dashboard or from specific survey page.
- From dashboard
Once you find your survey project on the Dashboard page, you may access multiple features from the dropdown menu under column “Actions”.
Click on the down-arrow to expand the dropdown menu.
Click on “Data & Analysis” to go to individual responses, and click on View Reports to review survey reports.

Click on the survey name under column “Project Name”, which leads you to the survey page.
Click on “Data & Analysis” to go to individual responses, and click on View Reports to review survey reports.
