Faculty and Staff Computer Standards

Purpose

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has standardized the ownership and configuration for computers to help reduce total inventory and create a more efficient process for procurement, pricing and support.   

Application

  • This set of standards applies to all ISU faculty and staff.
  • These standards must be followed when assigning a computer workstation to ISU faculty and staff.

Exceptions

OIT recognizes that there are technology needs which are possibly not met by the established standards and will work with individuals or departments to obtain the proper equipment for their needs.  Please indicate reasons for an exception on the computer acquisition form.

Standards

  • Laptop with a desktop package which includes:
    • Laptop with 16 GB RAM, 256 Hard Drive, and an i5 processor
    • One laptop charger
    • Docking Station with charger​​​​​​
    • USB Keyboard USB Mouse
    • Up to two 24" or one ultra-wide displays
  • Only one workstation package will be assigned to a faculty or staff member. 
  • Faculty and Staff requesting a new workstation or equipment must return the currently assigned workstation or equipment when new equipment is issued.
