Introduction

Instructional Tools Support manages a wide variety of tools that can be used to support student learning. Examples include plagiarism detection, polling, lecture capture, and more. After reading this article you should be more familiar with supported instructional products that the Office of Information Technology provides.

Exam Management

Tool	Description	Support Site
Respondus 4.0	Create and manage exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Canvas. Access to Respondus-compatible publisher test banks. Download through Software Center- Quick Start Guide	https://web.respondus.com/he/respondus/resources/
Respondus LockDown Browser	Locks down the testing environment to prevent cheating. Students are unable to copy, print, access other applications, or visit other websites during the exam. Download- Canvas Plugins- Respondus Lockdown Browser	https://web.respondus.com/he/lockdownbrowser/resources/
Respondus Monitor	Use student’s webcam and video analytics to prevent cheating during exams. Records and analyzes student exam sessions. Automated proctoring. Can only be used in conjunction with LockDown Browser.	Respondus Monitor Quick Start Guide

Writing and Plagiarism:

Tool	Description	Support Site
TurnItIn	Prevent plagiarism by identifying unoriginal content using the largest database of submitted work and sources. Provide feedback and grading using easy to use tools like the FeedBack Studio.	https://help.turnitin.com/Home.htm

Attendance

Tool	Description	Support Site
Qwickly Attendance	Take attendance that is automatically graded in the Grade Center. Multiple ways to take attendance such as attendance list and student check-in using an PIN and countdown timer. Send absence emails when students miss.	https://www.goqwickly.com/support/

Lecture Capture and Video Conferencing

Tool	Description
Canvas Studio	Software-based and mobile capturing for recording classroom lectures. Can also be used by students for creating videos for assignments and group work. Provides analytics for instructors to see how students are progressing. Create video quizzes from recorded content	Canvas Studio Guide
Zoom	Works with Canvas for collaborative learning. Allows synchronous discussion & work for up to 300 people with no time limit. Polling

Tool	Description	Support Site
TurningPoint (Clickers)*	Create polls through web, PowerPoint, and schedule surveys and assessments. Allows for anonymous polling for student responses with a mobile app or clicker.	https://www.turningtechnologies.com/training-and-support/

*TurningPoint by default is not included with Canvas. Students will need to make a separate purchase to gain access to their services.
