Updating Project Task Status

Introduction

Updating the percent completion on a project task should be done as you complete the work on that task. You can update the status in increments if you are not completing the entire task at one time. The following steps will show you how to update the percent complete on a task assigned to you in a project.

Steps

  1. Go to the My Work tab in TDX. If you do not see this tab, you should be able to find it in the waffle on the left.
  2. Click on the My Assignments section to the left of the page if you are not already there. 
  3. Find the task that you have to complete and click Update.
    1. It may be easiest to filter by Project in order to find tasks quickly.
    2. After clicking Update, a new window will open with the project task information.
  4. Update Percent Complete with the correct percentage by entering the percent in the box. 
    1. If a percentage hasn't been entered, it will default to 0. 
  5. Enter the correct time type and date. 
  6. Enter any comments you would like to make about the task.
    1. Enter a users name in the notify box, if you would like to notify someone about your comment. 
  7. Click save at the top.

Conclusion

Project task status must be updated as you complete the work to give the Project Manager and your manager/supervisor an accurate depiction of the work you are completing and the overall status of the project.
