OneDrive - File Storage for Students

Introduction

OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud based storage solution that comes as a part of every student Office 365 license. Data is stored off-campus in a non-university owned data center. The Office of Information Technology strongly recommends that students use their 1 TB of OneDrive storage to save all of their important files.

Features

  • Cloud storage is one of the best ways to back up and protect important files.
  • Allows you to have access to your files from any computer or device which will connect to the internet.
  • Microsoft offers a OneDrive application that allows you to sync files to your computer and edit files offline when needed.
  • Ideal for collaborating with other students on group projects.

To access your OneDrive:

  1. Go to portal.office.com
  2. Log in with your University email address and password
  3. Click the 9 dot square in the upper left corner
  4. Click OneDrive

Considerations

OneDrive storage is a benefit for current students.

Alumni will lose access to their ISU OneDrive storage after graduation.

Students who withdraw or do not enroll in future semesters without graduating will keep access to OneDrive for approximately one year. (Actual time is based on the academic schedule and can vary slightly.) Once access has been removed, Microsoft will delete the content and it cannot be recovered even if the student re-enrolls.
