MyISU - Registration Holds

Introduction

When a student has a Registration Hold on their account, a Registration Holds card will display in the first position of their MyISU page.  This article walks through the process and timings of things that happen after the hold is set/removed.

The Process

How the MyISU Hold Card is displayed in MyISU Experience:

  1. A Registration Hold is added to a student's account in Banner.  This hold will immediately block the student's registration.
  2. At the top of the hour a process is run to to assign the provisioning role REGHOLD to all students that have a registration hold.
  3. When the student logs into MyISU Experience, that role is passed and assigned to MyISU Experience.
  4. MyISU Experience Cards are displayed based on those roles that are passed through, so the Registration Card will display - locked in the first position.

Removal of the REGHOLD Role:

When all registration holds have been removed from a student's account, the following process happens:

  1. The final Registration Hold is removed from the student's account.  This action allows for student registration immediately.
  2. At the top of the hour a process is run to remove the provisioning role REGHOLD from the student's account.
  3. When the student logs into MyISU Experience, that role is passed and assigned to MyISU Experience.  However, the student may see a delay in the REGHOLD Card being removed because of various technical reasons (server and browser cache, etc.)  In this case, the student would see the following image:

Eventually the Registration Holds card will disappear, however, it may take some time for the card to disappear after the role has been removed. There are multiple services running that update these portal components separately. Due to process timing and multiple services executing, please allow up to 2 hours for the removal of the registration holds components to complete.

Additional Information

Future holds will be displayed in MyISU. The Begin date displayed on the card will indicate when the hold starts. If the student has a future hold that begins after the current registration cycle, they will not be prevented from registering for classes until the next term.
