Linux System Management

Description

More than 130 servers in the IT environment are Linux-based. These systems host Banner, ISU websites, help support the research and development communities in the University, and much more. Any technical inquiries about existing systems, consultation for new systems, or requests for Linux system administration are initiated by this service. This service includes administration for enterprise Linux systems and may not be requested for desktop or personal operating systems.

Standard Services and Features

Install software, configure applications, modify operating environments, and manage all related administration of existing Linux-based operating systems. Install and configure new operating systems. Provide backup assurance, monitoring, load balancing, and other secondary services as needed to support this service. Provide consultation and technical support for Linux operating systems, applications running on these systems, or the operation of these systems in the context of ISU’s technical infrastructure.

This service is provided for faculty/staff only.

Directions

To request an OS installation, include IP addresses, domain names, and any secondary services needed for this environment (load balancing, special configuration needs, firewall rules, etc.). For all other requests, such as consultation or technical support, be as descriptive as possible and you will be contacted by our support staff.
