Academic Affairs Faculty and Staff Computer Refresh

Introduction

OIT no longer be proactively contacts faculty and staff automatically to refresh their computers. Hardware purchased in recent years is generally lasting longer than anticipated and many faculty and staff do not want to be refreshed as frequently due to the disruption to their daily activity. This posture will be periodically reviewed to confirm its validity.

Information

Help Desk personnel watch for problematic computers and will recommend that a computer be refreshed if problems are frequent and are related to hardware. Faculty and staff can also contact OIT and request to have their computer evaluated to be refreshed due to hardware issues or software changes that require additional processor, memory or hard drive space. The review can be requested by clicking here, on the "Needs Consultant Appointment" service.

Upon review OIT may recommend the computer be replaced or upgraded with more memory, a larger hard drive or maybe a video card. If it is determined that those options will not help, the computer will be refreshed with either a computer we have in inventory or refreshed with a new computer at the discretion of OIT.

If there is a discrepancy about refreshing the computer the OIT TSS Director will review the information and investigate with the faculty or staff person and their supervisor to determine the best course of action. If a resolution cannot be found the CIO and the Dean or AVP / VP will discuss and make the final judgement.
