Purpose
Faculty and staff may have many different accounts and passwords for applications and services. With increases in password strength and password expiration policies, it is important to have a secure way to organize and remember passwords.
Application
This standard applies to Indiana State University faculty and staff who want to use a password management application to manage passwords.
Exceptions
There are no exceptions to this standard.
Standard
Keepass is our standard for password management.
KeePass is a free open source password manager. The user can put all passwords in one database, which is locked with one master key or a key file. The user must remember only one master password or select the key file to unlock the whole database. The database itself is encrypted using the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known.
Keepass is available for installation in the Software Center on ISU managed Windows workstations.
