TurnItIn LTI 1.3 for Canvas Quick Start Guide

Introduction

This article provides information and assistance to create assignments in Canvas using the updated TurnItIn LTI 1.3 integration. TurnItIn is a robust plagiarism checker that also enables you to provide feedback to students. The integration update to TurnItIn LTI 1.3 in Canvas provides security improvements and feature enhancements such as roster syncing, easier assignment creation, and the ability to submit assignments on behalf of students. The Assignments link must be available in the course navigation for instructors and students to access and manage all TurnItIn assignments. 

 

Steps

  1. In Course Navigation, Click the Assignments link:

  1. Click the kebab (three stacked dots) menu and select Turnitin LTI 1.3: 

  1. Enter the Assignment Title, Instructions, Max Grade, Start Date, Due Date, and Feedback Release Date: 

 

  1. Click Optional Settings to check any boxes for options that apply: 

  1. Click Submit: 

  1. The new assignment will display at the bottom of the Assignments list as an unpublished assignment. Click Publish to make it available to students.
