Description
Canvas is an enterprise Learning Management System with many different applications that can be integrated into the system. Each integrated application must be evaluated and tested prior to being approved for integration.
Standard Services and Features
The process for integration can be lengthy.
- After receiving a request, OIT will first perform a general review to ensure that there is not already a comparable application in place.
- We will meet with the requestor and communicate with the vendor to fully document the use case and requirements.
- This is followed by a technical review to determine if the integration is feasible in the ISU Canvas environment.
- Product testing will start. This process usually takes two to four weeks.
- If the product is determined to be operational, it will be added into Canvas during the next interval where no classes are active. This does not include holidays or when classes are not in session during the semester.
SLA: You can expect this service to be completed in 30 business days. This means that OIT will have worked with you to submit the initial project request and review technical aspects.
Constraints/Scope
Application integrations may be requested at any time. However, if the product is determined to be operational, it will be added into Canvas during the next interval where no classes are active. This does not include holidays or when classes are not in session during the semester.
Products have to be approved for University compliance.
Directions
Vendors will often contact faculty directly about Canvas application integration possibilities. We are happy to send an OIT representative to participate in these discussions with faculty in order to give a clear idea of what is possible in the ISU environment.
