Adding Resources to a Project

Introduction

This article demonstrates how to add staff Resources to an existing TeamDynamix project. Once a staff Resource has been added to a project, including the time estimates, and then approved by the Resource Manager, that person can then be assigned to task in the project plan.

Preconditions
  1. You must have access the TDNext application.
  2. Your must have access to Projects application
  3. You must be either the primary or alternate Project Manager, or a TeamDynamix Administrator.

Steps

  1. Open your Project in TDNext (Technician View)
    1. This can be done via the Projects app or the Project Manager (My Projects) desktop.
  2. Select “Manage” (note: only Project Managers and Alternate Project Managers have access to the Manage component).
  3. Select    and Add Resources
  4. Search for the person you want to add as a resource
    1. Advanced Lookup: Select "Both" to search both Employees and Non Employees to ensure a complete search is done. Student Employees are not listed as employees as well as outside affiliates.
  5. Click +Add to add the resource(s).
Note! If the Resource belongs to a Resource Pool, the request will be sent to the Resource Pool Manager and the staff member can only be added to a task once the Resource Pool Manager has approved the request.

Conclusion

The Project Manager must assign staff resources to the project BEFORE any resource can be assigned to a task.
