Introduction
Distance Origination Classrooms are built to support in-person, recorded, and live online classes. This setup lets you combine remote and in-person audiences for classes and events. Whether it's a regular online course, virtual guest speakers, or recordings for on-demand viewing, the DOC can handle many different needs.
- Room sizes range from 24 to 150 seats, all featuring a similar control system to keep things simple for instructors and participants.
- Each room includes a touch panel on the podium, an auto-tracking camera focused on the podium, and manually controlled cameras facing the audience. Microphone arrays ensure remote participants can hear everyone clearly.
- Classrooms offer either fixed seating with power outlets at student desks or flexible seating arrangements for room reconfiguration.
- Many rooms have displays at the front and back, so presenters can see content without staying near the podium.
- Document cameras can be requested for use on a semester basis. (Submit a Classrooms and Labs / Event: Audio/Video Equipment or Laptop Cart Checkout Request to reserve equipment)

Use Cases
Example 1:
For online sessions, the podium has a computer connected to all room technology. The instructor or presenter just needs to tap the touch panel to start all equipment and wait for the login screen on the computer. The computer works like your ISU-issued computer.
Zoom and Microsoft Teams are pre-installed. You can also use browser-based conference tools like GoTo Meeting or Google Meet from the podium PC.
If only the instructor's camera and PC are needed, These are default sources and the touch panel only needs to be used again to shut down the system at the end of the class.
For more options, manual controls are available for the instructor and audience cameras. You can also adjust room volume and control the power for the room’s displays.
Example 2:
If you want to use the room for a presentation with or without distance software, laptops, tablets, and phones can connect to the displays via wired or wireless options. Just select "Laptop" on the touch panel and pick the connection method.
Some Distance Origination Classrooms have a USB (Type-A) port on the podium to connect your laptop to the room's cameras and microphones for plug-and-play use. For more details, call 812-237-2910 Option #3.
