Introduction
Eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, worldwide wireless network access system developed for the international research and education community. Current ISU students, faculty, and staff, as well as retired faculty and staff, can connect to eduroam at member institutions using your full ISU email address and password.
How to determine if eduroam is available at higher education institutions other than Indiana State University
For a list of United States institutions participating in the eduroam program visit: https://www.eduroam.us/ . From this point you will be directed to an interactive map. Simply click on the numbers in the general geographic location you are interested in and the map will drill down to more specific geographic locations. For example, drilling down into Indiana will show participating members who broadcast the eduroam wireless network.
For a list of international institutions participating in the eduroam program visit: https://www.eduroam.org/where/ and choose the country from the list of roaming operators. From this point you will be directed to an interactive map. Simply click on the numbers in the general geographic location you are interested in and the map will drill down to more specific geographic locations.
How to Connect to Eduroam

Note: The institution that you are visiting must participate in Eduroam in order for you to use the service (see section How to determine if eduroam is available).
Use these instructions if you are an Indiana State University student, faculty or staff member and are visiting another institution.
- Select Eduroam from the list of available wireless networks.
- Enter your University email address and your university id password. (for example, john.doe@indstate.edu or jdoe3@sycamores.indstate.edu
When Visiting Indiana State University
Use these instructions if you are visiting Indiana State University from another institution.
Note: Your home institution must participate in Eduroam in order for you to use the service at Indiana State University.
- Select Eduroam from the list of available wireless networks.
- Enter the email address and password from your home institution.
Troubleshoot your eduroam Connection
Many Wi-Fi (wireless) connectivity problems are the result of settings or other issues on your computer or mobile devices that you can easily fix:
- Verify your username/email address and passphrase: Many connection issues result from one or both of these being incorrect.
- Be sure that you're on the right network: Be sure that you are using eduroam.
- Try removing the network and re-adding it: Remove and re-add eduroam on your device.
- Restart your device.
- Check your wireless setting: Verify that your device's wireless capability is on.
- If you're a Mac user: Make sure eduroam is your preferred network.
- Make sure you're connected to the closest Wi-Fi access point: Turn Wi-Fi off and on again.
- Wireless printers, personal Wi-Fi devices, or personal Wi-Fi access points: If you or your neighbors use these, try turning them off.
- Wi-Fi booster or signal amplifier: Don't bring personal Wi-Fi boosters/signal amplifiers to campus.
- Check bandwidth-hungry applications running in the background: Shut down video program and file-sharing tools.
- Make sure your driver software is up-to-date: Check your device's drivers.
- Problems at a particular spot on campus: If your connection works fine everywhere else but you can’t connect in a particular spot, report the coverage issue to the Support Center.
- Possible outage in your area: Check system status page for outage reports.
