Introduction
Indiana State University is migrating to PaperCut to manage student printing beginning with the Summer 2024 semester. This How-To guide will explain how to remove the old student printing software, Pharos, from your machine.
Steps
Windows Users
- Click on the Windows Start button, Select “All Apps” and locate the “Pharos” program folder.
- Click on the folder and find the “Uninstall Pharos” program. Right click on the program, select “More” and select “Run as Administrator”. Failing to run as administrator may result in the program not being fully removed from your machine.
- You may encounter a message from User Account Control asking for permission to run the uninstaller. Click Yes to proceed.
- The uninstall program will launch. Click Next to move on to the next step.
- The next screen will ask which components you would like to remove. Either click the check box next to the items, or click Select All. Most machines will only have one component listed. After selecting the option, click Next.
- Click Next on the following two screens to accept defaults. You will need to click the “Start” button on the last prompt to begin the uninstall process. This will take a few minutes to complete.
- After the process is completed, click the Finish button. Pharos printers and client have now been removed from your machine.
Mac Users
- From the desktop of your machine, navigate to “Go” in the file menu at the top of the screen.
- Choose “Go to Folder”.
- Type /Library and press enter. This will open a Finder window in your computer library.
- In that Finder window, navigate to /Library/Application Support/Pharos/Utilities.
- Select Uninstaller.
- Check the box to uninstall “Pharos Popup”, and click through the prompts.
- After the process is completed, click the Finish button. Pharos printers and client have now been removed from your machine.
