How to Change Your ISU Email Address or University Account Name After a Name Change

Special Concepts

Because your email address and University Username are tied to so many different permissions, applications, and functions here at the university, changing either one is a complex process.  Normally this would occur in the event of marriage, legal name change, or change in a chosen name (ie. Robert to Bob).   

All users can change their Chosen Name through our Self-Services.  Please be aware that this will inactivate your ISU ID Card - and you will need to get a new card created at Public Safety.  There will be a fee to produce a new card.

1. Login to the portal
2. In the top-right corner, click on your name - and select "University Profile"
3. Click on Personal Information
4. Click on the edit button in the Personal Details area
5. Edit the Chosen First Name field
6. Save

If you require a change outside of the "Chosen Name", we ask that you please contact the OIT Technology Support Center at x8812-237- 2910 and we will get the process started for you.
