Mcafee Endpoint Security for Mac - Security & Privacy Alert


  • Mcafee Endpoint Security for Mac is unable to properly load or enable some features until "Mcafee Inc" is added as a trusted developer.

  • Apple has introduced a new feature in MacOS 10.13 and later os versions called Privacy Policy Preference Control. This feature prevents software from running on the system unless it's publisher has been added as a trusted software developer.


  1. Click on the Apple Menu in the upper left corner of your screen.
  2. From the drop down menu click System Preferences...
  3. From the System Preferences menu click the Security & Privacy icon.
  4. From the Security & Privacy menu go to the General tab and click the padlock icon in the bottom left corner to elevate your system privileges.
  5. You will be prompted to enter your administrator user name and password. Then press Unlock after entering your credentials.
  6. The padlock icon should change to unlocked and the "Allow apps downloaded from:" field should no longer be greyed out.
  7. ​​Select the Allow button to allow "Mcafee Inc" to be a trusted developer.


















8. Select OK on the Mcafee Alert window for the message to close.
